Mareeba Wetlands is just a short step from Cairns, yet in the heart of the Australian Savanna .

Set on a reserve of over 5000 acres of lightly timbered savanna grassland, the Wetlands, which total around 300 acres of open water, are situated on the East Asian/Australasian flyway, attracting migratory birds and providing a sanctuary for a wide variety of terrestrial and aquatic wildlife.

The Jabiru Camp provides accommodation for birdwatchers, reseachers and nature lovers. The Safari tents are surrounded by the natural settings of the savannah and you wake up to a dawn chorus with the sounds of Kookaburras and Brolgas. Enjoy the private verandah at night while stargazing under the southern sky. Each tent is comfortably furnished with queen or twin beds, insect screen and ensuit bathroom. They are spacious and light with timber floors.
