Pack your Akubra Hat and camera and experience a True Aussie Outback experience within a premium resort at Wrotham Park Lodge.
Discover the beauty and wonder of the Australian landscape combined with the rich heritage of Australian rural history. Only 45 minutes by air from Cairns, perched high on the escarpment of the Mitchell River sits this superb five star retreat.
Immerse yourself in the rugged landscapes and join in the activities that reflect some of the aspects of the legendary outback life and the experiences of outback stockmen.
Sunset cocktails are the perfect start to each evening with nature putting together a light spectacular each evening. All meals are of the very highest standards and guests share a communal dining table with dinner hosted by the Station manager most evenings enhancing the experience. (private dining is available on request). There are 3 chefs at Wrotham Park Lodge creating Modern Australian gourmet fare with an emphasis on local produce including the world-renowned '1824' beef brand.
Architecturally the entire resort is inspiring. The Homestead is the hub of the resort with a traditional wrap-around verandah, many daybeds, a horizon edge pool, and large outdoor banquette-edged area with a central fire. The lounge at the Homestead offers guests a self-service bar while the library has a television for those who want news from the outside world. Internet services are also available.

The scale of the cattle station means that today's 'cowboys' use helicopters to muster the cattle, though horsemanship is still a necessary skill.
Guests who coincide with the mustering seasons (April - June and September - November) may just be lucky enough to witness the real thing. Helicopter tours are available as an optional extra and I strongly suggest taking up this offer. Mustering feral bulls in a helicopter is an unforgettable experience. It simply takes your breath away.
Located 300 km’s west of Cairns in the center of a 1.5 million acre Cattle station this is your chance to have a glimpse into the lifestyle on a working cattle station. 35,000 head of prized Brahman cattle roam the land.
The dusty reality of the working cattle station combined with the welcoming smiles and hospitality of the staff make for a most memorable Aussie bush experience.
In addition to cattle, guests might see some of the native kangaroos, dingoes, wallabies, crocodiles, goannas, emus as well as a huge variety of colourful bird species.
Station Discovery Tour:
A half-day tour of the cattle station is part of the Wrotham Park experience and is a real eye-opener. After hurtling along dirt roads through the bush you will see the original pens where the cattle were once sorted before being sold on. The hand-hewn rails of the pens, with their towering ironwood posts surrounded by monumental eucalypts make an incongruous historical sight.
Highly recommended experience!
Getting There:
From Cairns guests can charter a plane (45 minutes), take a helicopter (1 hour) or self-drive using a 4WD as some sections of road are unsealed (4.5 hours) .
