Situated near Malanda in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands, the retreat has 300 metres of absolute frontage to the beautiful Johnstone River with its magnificent rapids, secluded swimming holes and resident wildlife. It is a nature lover's paradise.
'Cooinda' looks over the beautiful North Johnstone River and the rainforest surrounds. It is the perfect secluded getaway for 2 or 3 couples traveling together or for a family holiday.
The master bedroom with its king size bed opens up onto the front verandah, as does the generous dining and lounge room. The other two bedrooms have two king singles that can convert to a king size bed. These bedrooms open to the rear verandah and rainforest.
The beautiful Queensland Maple kitchen is fully equipped with large fridge and freezer, gas cook top, wall oven, microwave and dishwasher plus all necessary crockery, cutlery, pots & pans etc. There is a walk-in pantry with a blender, sandwich press, hand mixer, toaster, and even a popcorn maker.
The lounge has a cosy wood burner, leather sofa and lounge chairs, books and games, DVD, Xbox, VCR and television. Full laundry facilities and a linen service are also provided.
Activities available include swimming, bushwalking, birdwatching, cycling and even table tennis and volleyball. The surrounding hypsi forest is the name given to this endangered type 1b rainforest. It is home to a host of rainforest birds - perfect for the serious birdwatcher. Bird book and binoculars provided.
For a small town, Malanda offers a surprising diverse range of things to do. This is the centre of the Tablelands Dairy Industry. The Malanda Dairy Centre offers locally sourced foods and a historical display featuring the history of the Tableland Dairy Industry. It also offers tours of the adjoining Malanda Dairy Farmers Factory.
On the edge of town is a rainforest featuring a beautiful swimming hole fed by a large waterfall and an environmental information centre offering the volcanic history of the area. In the Malanda Township, check out the historic Malanda Hotel built from local timbers, arts and craft shops and the fully functioning 1920 Majestic Theatre with its old style canvas sling seats.
