It’s all starting to happen now on our Wildlife at Sunset tour!As the weather warms up the bats, following the increase in food sources, start their migration back to Barkers Cave for the mating season. The population swells into the 100,000’s and the nightly forays from cave to bush make a stunning spectacle. But there are more than just gaping tourists and camera flashes awaiting their emergence. “Night Tigers” or Brown Tree snakes dangle in readiness, lightening quick lunges are required to grab a nightly feed of the microbats zigzagging their way from the cave’s mouth.
But don’t worry; harmless to us, it’s the bats these reptiles are after. So put yourself in the documentary next time you are out at Undara!
